There is something to be said about persistence.

I met up with an interesting person - a veteran in the book distribution business in Singapore - a few days ago and this was a yet another reality check for me.

What have my peers (meaning children's book writers) been doing and how is the book scene like generally?

Long story short - I need to re-think how I'm going about writing for children. It's not enough to just focus on the writing, the creative aspect of it; I've also got to think about this like a business - how to nurture it, grow it and make this a viable platform for me to express my passion for the written word, connect with young people through stories and be taken seriously as credible educator / entrepreneur.

There, I've said it - it's scary to see the actual word in print. "Entrepreneur" and equate that with me, a through and through arts major.

But I need to do this. I don't know why. But something tells me I need to pursue this.

Whatever happens, I know it'll be one heckuva ride!

Join me in my journey? Pop by once in a while and kaypoh around. See how I'm progressing and give me a kick in the butt when you need to. Any ideas you may have or want to explore with me are also welcome :)

Virtual kicks or shout outs are welcome in the tagboard and via email at sharonismail@gmail.com.
